Once again S4 was the most active buyer in 2021 with nine deals transacted on as it continued its targeted M&A activity across digital content, media and data and also began to to acquire technology services capabilities and adjacent skillsets.
Accenture was the second most active party over the year with six transactions including their acquisition of Argentinian ecommerce agency Glamit.
It is positive to note the uptick in network activity in the year, bolstering wider M&A appetite, as Publicis and Omnicom acquired four and three targets respectively in the year.
We see no signs of a slowdown from private equity who represented six of the top 12 buyers in 2021.
